Let's Talk About It!

So, as I am going through this new journey as a small business owner, I want to talk about it. I also want to hear from other small business owners or future inspired entrepreneurs on how their journey has been and how have you managed not losing your head? LBVS I love going through this journey, but I will not lie when I say that it is a lot of work starting up a business. I know we hear that when barely scratching the surface of researching "how to become a business owner". But for real like it is really challenging and in order to run a successful small business you do have to put in a lot of time, work, and energy into making sure that your business runs as smooth as much as possible while not having any staff or assistants or any money from big banks or even small credit union banks. Let's talk about that. As a brown woman I find it that because of my past teaching about financial security and just lessons on finances period were a very small window. The only thing that I can remember right before I graduated high school was one of the counselors telling me and my friend that "once you graduate you will get offered credit cards and possible phone lines on credit. Don't do it". You would think that it would be simple but without that extra information on why credit is important and why not to abuse it, now that's a whole different story right? So when you have an 18 year old that grew up not with a silver spoon life then free money on cards and free phones sounded like hitting the lottery LOL no but in all seriousness because I was not fully taught about credit it has very much caught up to me in my now adult life when I am trying to get a possible business loan and all they can see is a 18 year olds past credit history that I had to learn the hard way all the way up until the age of 25 about just how much credit is important especially when starting up a business with no help from any banks. I just want to know if there are any other alternatives or resources out there that truly want to help a sister out and actually teach about running a business with a possible business loan, so we don't fall hard with mistakes that were not taught.

Let me know of your challenges so far if any or how you overcame any obstacles and any resources you may have. I figured this is a great opportunity to support other small business owners especially women and women of color.
